Morning Meditation

Good Morning and Happy Friday!
I pray that out of His glorious riches He may strengthen you with power through His Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith…Ephesians 3:16 (NIV)

God’s Strengthening Power

I have a friend who is seriously considering a career in the health field. The other night, while discussing one topic, he suddenly interrupted the flow of our conversation and asked me how I ever got through medical school. Even before I could answer that one question, he bombarded me with more questions: “there’s so much stuff to know and memorize…how did you ever memorize everything? Didn’t you feel overwhelmed? How is it you still remember some of that basic stuff?”
I took a moment and mentally traveled back in time to remember my most stressful moments in medical school. My response was, “well, I cried at times and I prayed a lot”.
We all need the strengthening of God when embarking on tasks that threaten to overwhelm us. Consider Joshua, Moses’ protege. Joshua had the daunting task of bringing the children of Israel into the promised land.(Joshua 1:1-3)
The first generation that had left Egypt was dead due to unbelief. This generation was their progeny. The great prophet Moses, Joshua’s mentor was dead. I can’t imagine the overwhelming pressure that Joshua must have been feeling while looking at the countless families that he was now responsible for. And in the midst of that emotional crucible, God steps in. He tells Joshua that as He was with Moses, so will He be with Joshua. Moreover, He promises Joshua that He will never leave him nor forsake him. (Joshua 1:5)
Joshua must have exhaled slowly as those words rested on his anxious heart like a comforting balm. As God was with Moses and Joshua during the most stressful times of their lives, so will He be with you. He watches over you to strengthen you even should your heart and flesh fail.
(Psalm 73:26)
He promises to be with you as you walk through fire and flood. (Isaiah 43:2)
I am so glad that He Is!
Be encouraged!
