Morning Meditation

Good Morning and Happy Thursday!
Because you are His sons {and daughters}, God sent the Spirit of His Son into our hearts, the Spirit who calls out, “Abba, Father.” Galatians 4:6 (NIV)

All in the Family

Who do people say you look like when they look at you? One sunny Summer afternoon at the beach, I took a long look at my father sitting calmly on the beach wearing his oversized swim trunks. I wondered if this man lounging on the sand, looking back at me was a vision of me several decades into my future. I’m taller than he is, but we have enough similarities in our physical features that clearly identify us both as family. And that is as it was meant to be. From the time of creation, God made it so that all living things reproduce after their own kind. (Genesis 1:25)
The children take on physical characteristics of the parents. Even adopted children often take on their guardians’ mannerisms, voice patterns, and even handwriting. More times than not, strangers will not know that a child is adopted unless they are told. But God is a spirit. (John 4:24)
And He reproduces children after His spirit. (Matthew 6:9)
During these latter days, God has promised to pour out His Spirit as rain upon all people. (Acts 2:17)
Jesus was once asked by a rowdy crowd to show them His Father. His response was that if they really knew Him, they would have also known His Father. (John 8:19)
Through God’s Spirit living in us, we can make the same claim. (1 John 4:13)
