Morning Meditation

Good Morning and Happy Monday!

When he opened the seventh seal, there was silence in heaven for about half an hour. Revelation 8:1 (NIV)

The Sound of Silence

Scripture Reading: 1 Samuel: 28:3-24
And there was the mighty King Saul, first king of Israel, accompanied by two attendants, disguised and sitting at the feet of a medium in the Canaanite city of Endor. Interestingly, Saul had banished all spiritists and conjurers from his kingdom. But that night, he was consulting with a witch. And why was this? Why would he go against his own law? Because he was desperate to know God’s will. He wanted to know the outcome of his battle with the Philistines. And God was no longer responding to his inquiries. God was silent.
The silence of Heaven is as significant as when Heaven speaks. It is relevant. It causes us to pause, be still and reflect upon our place in God. It causes us to wait on God and not go our own way.
It is unfortunate that Saul never learned this lesson. He was impulsive, desperate and unfortunately, incorrigible.
Hopefully, we have the missteps of those who have walked before us to ponder on.
May we learn from the mistakes of others.
