Morning Meditation

Good Morning and Happy Wednesday!
By faith Noah, when warned about things not yet seen, in holy fear built an ark to save his family. By his faith he condemned the world and became heir of the righteousness that is in keeping with faith.
Hebrews 11:7 (NIV)
Faith That Waits

How long would you wait for a promise from God to manifest? Several months? A year? And if you were able to live an extremely long life, would you wait a hundred years? Would you spend a century channeling your energies on a promise given to you so long ago that you may have forgotten when you received that fateful word from God? These questions run through my mind when I consider the prophet Noah who, according to the Bible, lived a very long time. When he was approximately five hundred years old, God called him to build an ark. (Genesis 5:32 & 6:14-16)
God informed Noah that He was going to put an end to all people because of the violence that was taking place on the earth. (Genesis 6:13)
And God was going to do this through floodwaters. (Genesis 6:17)
Interestingly, the floodwaters didn’t come until Noah was six hundred years old. (Genesis 7:6)
I can imagine people walking past this major construction project and wondering what was going on in the mind of this old man. Noah must have been the butt of jokes for decades as the sun shone daily and there was no evidence of any storms on the horizon. But Noah believed in God, kept his faith which I’m sure made him look like a madman in his community, and was saved. (Genesis 7:11-13)
How long would you wait on God for a promise that you knew was given to you by God? When the Lord makes a promise, time is on your side.
