Morning Meditation

Good Morning and Happy Wednesday!
…for they themselves report what kind of reception you gave us. They tell how you turned to God from idols to serve the living and true God, 1 Thessalonians 1:9 (NIV)

The Manasseh Experience

Have you ever had a Manasseh experience? Manasseh was once the most powerful and feared man in the kingdom of Judah. Coming to the throne at age 12, Manasseh soon followed the wickedness of his heart after the death of his father Hezekiah. According to history, he re-instituted the pagan worship that his father had condemned. Moreover, the scriptures indicate that he “bowed down to all the starry hosts and worshipped them”. (2 Kings 21:3)
It seems that Manasseh’s idolatry had no limits for he even sacrificed his own son as part of his idol worship.
(2 Kings 21:6)
But all wickedness has an end. There came a time when King Manasseh bowed his knees to the one true God, humbled himself greatly and repented of all his idol worship.
(2 Chronicles 33:12-13)
There is a moment when we all have to come to terms with our identity of being simple dust and that of God as our creator and Lord. And with that humbling revelation, if we have any sense, we turn to God and repent as Job did, confessing our acts of pride and rebellion. (Job 42:5-6)
The Scriptures declare that every knee will bow and every tongue will acknowledge and give praise to God.
(Romans 14:11)
Have you had your Manasseh experience? It is a moment by moment experience of personal humility and acknowledgement of the grandeur of God.
It is good to come before the Lord in humility. He promises to lift up the humble person in honor. (James 4:10)
