Morning Meditation
Good Morning and Happy Monday!
If anyone thinks they are something when they are not, they deceive themselves. Galatians 6:3 (NIV)
Self Deception
He lost the promotion to someone else. Everyone saw this coming. But rather than telling him that the promotion was never his, so called friends encouraged his fantasy that he would be the chosen candidate. At the end, he tried to cover his disappointment and hurt by insisting that he had never aspired to anything beyond his station. His present argument rings hollow. And everyone knows it…except him.
Self deception is most hurtful. When the truth shows up at the host’s front door like an uninvited guest, the host wants nothing more than to quickly shut the door and lock it. The Bible warns not to presume on our own importance, but rather allow others to elevate us. In that way, we will avoid embarrassment. (Proverbs 25:6-7)
As beautifully powerful as our credentials may be, God is the only one who can exalt a person. (Psalm 75:7)
And He is not known to entertain or exalt false pride.
(James 4:6)
Humble yourself before the Lord. In His time, He will lift you up above your present station. (Luke 18:14)
In God’s economy, humility is the currency for success.
Be encouraged!
