Morning Meditation

Good Morning and Happy Wednesday!

Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers. Galatians 6:10 (NIV)

After Christmas

During the Christmas season, people often describe a Spirit of generosity and goodness that seem to surround their immediate social circles. It seems that the whole world comes together under a beautiful and enticing canopy of genuine goodwill as we exchange greetings of “Merry Christmas”, “Happy Hanukkah”, or even a politically correct “Season’s Greetings”. Many feel compelled to participate in random acts of kindness without need for notoriety. People participate in soup kitchens, give to groups that address world hunger or a medical condition.
But what happens after Christmas? Was this Spirit of Christmas just for a season? According to the scriptures, generosity and goodness should be part of the spiritual DNA of every child of God. God’s Spirit dwells in us to enable us to breathe out goodness as naturally as others breathe out air. (Galatians 5: 22-23)
As we surrender ourselves to God, He works in us and through us to will and to act according to His good purposes. (Philippians 2:13)
Be assured that God also equips His children for every good work. (2 Timothy 3:17)
And these good works have been prepared for us to do before we were ever conceived. (Ephesians 2:10)
Be encouraged as you accomplish your good deeds throughout the course of the year. You are only doing what is in your spiritual nature to do.
